Chapel on the Green
Located
on the corner of Center Street and Church Street, Yorkville, in the former
Yorkville Congregational Church, the Chapel on the Green is the oldest church
building in Kendall County, built in 1855.
The chapel houses an extensive research library/archives and a museum. It is open each Wednesday morning from 9:00am to 12:00pm, or by appointment. Many county records are available for research, such as census records from 1840 to 1880, all of the county histories indexed, plat books, vital records, records of all cemeteries in the county, family histories, obituaries and more. Research may be done in person when we are open at no charge. Research may also be done by mail for a fee.
In the addition, the sanctuary is available to rent for weddings and the lower level for receptions or other activities.
