About the Artist

Paul E. Burd is a freelance commercial and editorial photographer who has been a resident of Yorkville for more than 10 years. He is a former U. S. Coast Guard photojournalist and has a BS in magazine journalism from Ohio University.

Burd has been working out of the Chicago area since 1980, and has worked in every state and five Canadian provinces. He serves a variety of commercial clients such as Amoco Landis & Gyr, U. S. Filter, and Alcoa among others and is best known for large-format location photography and architectural photography. Most of his commercial work is used in brochures, annual reports, and advertising materials as well as company and trade magazines.

His editorial photography and writing has been featured in CHICAGO, FARM JOURNAL, NATURAL HISTORY, and COUNTRY HOME among others. He shoots for Associated Press, the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, and the Copley newspapers in his spare time. He has also done extensive photo assignments for the Texas Department of Highways magazines and tourist literature, as well as for the State of Illinois tourist literature.
